Shimano K05S disc brake pads are made of resin and equipped with steel base plates. 50 % more wear-resistant than its predecessor K03S. Recommended for XTR, Dura Ace, Ultegra, 105, Tiagra, GRX and Metrea disc brake calipers.

Resin brake pads are quieter than metal pads, but offer slightly lower performance and have higher wear. Metal pads have a longer service life than pads made of synthetic resin, are more fade-resistant and offer consistent deceleration in dry and wet conditions. Metal brake pads may generate noise during braking.
