Description
Maxxis’ High Road, a versatile road racing tyre with a 170 TPI casing, HYPR compound, and pro-level competition features, has received an exciting update in 2021. The enhancements include a lighter weight casing, improved puncture protection with the all-new ZK material, and a redesigned tread pattern. These updates collectively result in a tyre that is not only lighter and faster but also significantly more durable.
HYPR COMPOUND
The HYPR compound, which is a full-silica blend and our most high-performing compound to date, has been a game-changer. Compared to our previous road racing compound, HYPR boasts a remarkable 16% reduction in rolling resistance while offering a remarkable 23% improvement in wet-weather grip. Impressively, HYPR manages to reduce rolling resistance and increase traction, all while maintaining durability at par with our previous rubber compounds.
ZK
ZK represents our next-generation puncture protection material, surpassing its predecessors like K2 in terms of being lighter, more flexible, and stronger. Typically, Maxxis utilises ZK as a breaker layer, positioned beneath the tyre’s tread, at the centre.
TUBELESS READY
Tubeless-ready tyres deliver a multitude of benefits to riders, including the ability to operate at lower air pressures, thereby enhancing traction. Additionally, they exhibit lower rolling resistance compared to tube-type tyres and are less susceptible to flats because there is no inner tube. You can identify tubeless-ready tyres by the “TR” designation on the sidewall.
However, it’s crucial to note that tubeless-ready tyres must be fitted on tubeless-compatible rims and necessitate the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. These sealants also offer the added advantage of sealing minor punctures. Remember to monitor your sealant regularly and replenish it as needed, as it may dry out over time.
It’s important to highlight that liquid sealants should only be used in the following tyre types: tubeless road, tubular, and tubeless-ready. Using liquid sealants in any other Maxxis tyre will render the warranty void.
